Forest Service Unveils Online Reservations for Permits to Float Four Idaho Rivers

The Four Rivers Lottery is going "green," incorporating an entirely online system in order to go paperless.
From Dec. 1, 2009, to Jan. 31, 2010, the Forest Service will conduct its usual lottery for floating the four rivers, but with some changes and at a different website. Applicants will now apply online at www.recreation.gov. This will require each applicant to have their own email address to create a profile online.

TSA's Secure Flight Enters Next Phase: Requires Passengers to Provide Date of Birth, Gender When Booking Airline Travel
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced that as of Aug. 15, 2009, U.S. airlines participating in the Secure Flight passenger vetting program will begin asking passengers to provide their date of birth and gender when making airline reservations. TSA has already begun to phase the airlines into the Secure Flight program—the national security program that includes the government watch list—and will complete implementation in 2010.
Because this program is being phased in, passengers should not be concerned if particular airlines do not ask them to provide the additional information right away; it should not impact their travel. Since Secure Flight is a behind-the-scenes watch list matching process that happens before passengers arrive at the airport, current security checkpoint procedures remain the same.
